HNT: Forest Nymph

I was walking in solitude through the forest on an ancient track, etched into the hillside by the footsteps of countless generations of wayfarers who had trodden that path before me down the centuries.

Now and again I was momentarily blinded by the horizontal rays of the setting sun shining between the tall pines, the after-images burned on my retinae, playing tricks with my vision.

I thought I heard a movement up on the bank above me, a rustling in the undergrowth. A deer, maybe? I squinted against the light and fancied I saw the silhouette of a woodland spirit, a dryad, in the guise of a beautiful woman flaunting her naked body at me. Laughing at me, dancing mischievously, taunting me.

I looked away for a moment, rubbed my eyes, and when I looked back she was gone.

Only her laughter remained, echoing among the trees.

Oh, this is lovely. The lighting, the words... everything. HHNT!

And RYC and DK: I'll be there from Nov 13-17. I've been going back and forth with my family, and they've basically filled my entire days with family- and touristy-ness. Which means a daytrip upstate (well, up-country, I suppose) might be tricky. Any chance you and Heather will be down towards Copenhagen around that time? (I know it's a long shot, but it can't hurt to check, right?)

Sasha: Thank you, I'll get back to you on those dates, but getting a cheap flight might be tricky, our second-biggest airline, which operated a cut-price route to Copenhagen from us) has just gone bust!

Kate: Wood SPIRIT...wot I woz drinking at the time!

Mariposa: Blink and you'll miss her!

SCW: It was fun to do!

P & S Thank you, and welcome here!

Swingerwife: Welcome! Thank you, you're very kind.

Jennybean: Thanks!

Greg and Sheryl: I took the photo first, then thought it would be fun to spin a story round it. THe bit about the ancient track is true enough.

Vixen: Thank you, it was fun to do!

I'm obviously walking in the wrong woods! That's a fantastic combination of words and images - thanks for sharing :)

Happy HNT - both to you and your nymph!

Suze: Well, She IS magical (I had to say that, didn't I?)

Dee: Thank you. I'm glad to say this particular nymph likes to get caught every so often!

Trixie: I'm glad we made the most of it. It was the last week we should have been in UK, so it wasn't totally wasted.

The lighting and the outline of the body is just wonderful!

Happy HNT!

Ro: It's a secret location! Can't have the place teeming with sightseers now, can we?

Nightbyrd: Only indoor photography now for a bit. Last night it was minus four degrees (Celcius!) outside.

Rage: Amazing what a bit of jiggery-pokery with Photoshop can do!

Lovely! The story, the forest where the picture was took, the interesting shadow of the picture itself ~

Wilhelmina: Welcome here!. Some of the story is true. It is a very ancient forest and people have lived in it and travelled through it for at least the last thousand years, so local legends have grown up around it. It is a very special place.

Ausallblack: Welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
